 Re-defining
Ricky's passion for storytelling and creating began when he was a young boy.

Growing up in the South Side of Raleigh, NC with a single mother who worked two jobs all while supporting the dreams of her children wasn't easy. His mama was a hustler, and she did it with a strength, finesse, grit and grind that he carries with him into every room. Ricky's role models and ancestors serve as a reminder of the ground on which he stands.

This fascination has since completely engrossed Ricky and motivated him to pursue his BFA training in the historically rich Chadwick A. Boseman's College of Fine Arts at Howard University. Under the leadership and mentorship of Dean Phylicia Rashad and Nikkole Salter, Ricky's artistry was fostered by black artistic innovation, thought, and brilliance within the industry. He has also trained in classical theatre with the British American Drama Academy, explored contemporary Commedia Dell'Arte, clowning, and Jacques Lecoq, and is a classically trained singer versed in a variation of genres.

He constantly asks myself how his artistry rooted in authenticity and truth can galvanize people to do something. He nurtures the innate creative ability of every voice and utilizes a craft that allows the gamut of the human experience. He is currently seeking stories in theatre, television, and film that arms Black boys and girls with a dream to strive for. His approach to practicing compassion at the same time as being ardently and vehemently opposed to harmful societal expectations has been the framework for the way he lives his life. When he's not in the lab, you can find him playing in the grass byway of hiking, eating, traveling or recharging with his tribe.
